La Maestra is open to professional women conductors of all nationalities. There is no age limit.

The global impact of the inaugural La Maestra competition 2020 initiated an important shift within the classical music world. With this 2nd competition the aim is to anchor these changes even more deeply in society.

Miraculously produced in 2020 despite the COVID pandemic, the inaugural La Maestra Competition enabled new talented women conductors to emerge onto the international stage, including Rebecca Tong (1st Prize and French Orchestras and Concert-Halls Prize), Stephanie Childress (2nd Prize), Lina Gonzalez-Granados (3rd Prize and ECHO Prize) and Glass Marcano (Paris Mozart Orchestra Prize). These conductors are now enjoying high-profile professional engagements, with further carefully targeted training, mentoring and career support through the La Maestra Academy.
